The Lyman Custom Fit .485 Loading Block is an improvement over the universal loading block concept in that the holes are sized for a particular case head dimension. This allows for more secure case holding. The .485 size is suitable for the 308 Winchester cartridge case, 6.5 Creedmoor, and other cartridges with similar sized case heads. If you have the correct equipment (drill press and correct bit), you can make a good loading block that fits the space you have on your bench and your reloading style. The Lyman Loading Block does get you up and running immediately and does a decent job of holding cases steady.
