Lee Universal Decapping Die

The Lee Universal Decapping Die can be used before cases are cleaned and lubricated.  One die fits all cases up to 0.560 inches in diameter and up to 3.125 inches in length.  Supplied with a decapping pin small enough for small rifle primer flash holes, this single die will work with just about any calibre.  Perfect for decapping crimped in primers.  Once decapped, cases can then be cleaned with the primer pockets exposed.

Removing primers as a separate step from resizing reduces the chance that debris from the primer pocket does not contaminate your sizing die.  This tool is perfect for initial decapping of cases with crimped primer pockets prior to cleaning and swaging.  Decapping before case tumbling also allows cleaning of the primer pockets during the tumbling step, which saves time in the overall reloading process.

For the best results, use the Lee Universal Decapping Die, then wet tumble your cases in something like a Extreme Tumblers Rebel 17 Case Tumbler.  Primer pockets come out perfectly clean and need to extra attention after the brass is rinsed and dried.

This Lee Universal Decapping Die is shipped with an extra decapping pin.  You will probably never need it, but if and when you do, you will not lose any time waiting for a replacement.  These traditionally break just before a match or on a bank holiday weekend.
